U15 Welcomes Announcement of the Canada 150 Research Chairs

Ottawa, ON (December 13, 2017) – The U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities welcomes Science Minister Kirsty Duncan’s announcement today of the first Canada 150 Research Chairs. Dr. Guy Breton, U15 Chair and Rector of the University of Montreal made the following statement:

“The Canada 150 Research Chairs will help to ensure that Canada’s next generation of business, civic and academic leaders learn from the best in the world. The creation of the Canada 150 Research Chairs program allows Canadian universities to bring some of the world’s top research talent to Canada, where they are drawn by our strong economy and our reputation as a diverse and welcoming country. Having these highly sought-after research leaders on our campuses is a critical part of building a prosperous, knowledge-based economy that benefits all Canadians.”  The U15 applauds the government on the creation of the program.”
