U15 statement on the passing of Dr. David Strangway

After learning of the death of David Strangway, Guy Breton, the U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities’ Chair and Rector, Université de Montréal, made the following statement:

“We are saddened to learn of the passing of David Strangway. As President of the University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia and Quest University, and as President of the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Dr. Strangway was a champion of Canadian research and post-secondary education. Dr. Strangway’s vision of Canada’s capacity for world-class research and training has made a lasting impression on the research community. We commend his service to Canadian universities. The U15 community offers its sincere condolences to his family and friends.”
