U15 Welcomes Immigration Reforms in 2016 Fall Economic Statement
OTTAWA, ONTARIO (November 1, 2016)— In response to the Fall Economic Statement delivered by Minister of Finance Bill Morneau in Ottawa today, U15 Chair Guy Breton, Rector of the University of Montreal, said the following:
“Canada’s U15 research universities welcome today’s announcement of a Global Skills Strategy, and the work-permit exemption for short-term academic visits. These measures will help ensure Canada remains a leading research nation, able to compete globally for talented faculty and staff. We also appreciate the Minister’s continuing recognition of the vital role universities play in driving innovation and inclusive economic growth.”
