U15 Welcomes Collaboration with Belgian Counterpart “CRef”

PARIS, FRANCE (June 30, 2016) —The U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities met in Paris today with the Council of Rectors (CRef) of Universities in the Federation Wallonia-Brussels. The U15 presidents and the Council’s rectors discussed common issues and pathways for collaboration between Belgium and Canada.

CRef represents six of Belgium’s leading French-speaking research-intensive universities.

“Our meeting today with CRef highlighted this unique opportunity to deepen the already substantial relationships among Canadian and Belgian research-intensive universities,” said U15 Chair Feridun Hamdullahpur, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waterloo.

“By expanding our ties, we will promote even greater collaboration on world-leading scientific research, along with opportunities for increased mobility of faculty and students between our two countries.”
